I am off today.

I’d forgotten that I was off until around Tuesday I think, so this is almost like a bonus vacation day. But considering I worked late the back half of the week anyway, I think it’s good I’m off because I feel like crap from being so exhausted.

Anyway, JessieDog and I are sofa-surfin’. It’s cold and grey out (very September) and I’ve got lots of chore-like things I should get done before Nighthawk gets out of work in a few hours. I’m also thinking of working on the comic and/or the website (actually the site’s got more of my attention because I have comics for tomorrow and and Tuesday in the queue already — leftovers from vacation) and I haven’t played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance in like a week and I want to get back to it.

So I’ve got a 4 day vacation going with the first one all to myself and it’s pretty cool. I’ll be checking the forum most of the weekend if you feel like stopping by.

Three Things of Note

Thing the first: It’s not so much that Davan and PeeJee appear to be fighting (LGT image as I can’t figure out the permalink structure) that sets my hair on edge, as Randy’s comments at the bottom of the comic:

Twenty-four hours from now, all the concerns, problems, and worries will seem so small

Last time all my concerns, problems, and worries felt so small was five days ago when I was on the beach. The time before that was my uncle’s funeral. Somehow (maybe it’s the obvious fighting) this bodes more toward the latter than the former. Maybe that’s just my paranoia kicking in.

Thing the second: I had never considered using a speech bubble inside a speech bubble as a form of emphasis before. I learn more from the Foglios each time I read.

Thing the third: It’s the little critter all the way to the right in this Creatures in my Head that totally cracks me up, because it looks like he’s chewing on the big creature’s arm. How these don’t get posted to Cute Overload every single day is beyond me.

Vacation is officially in progress!

It’s Saturday night, and I’m in Virginia Beach.

Sweeeeeet.

The drive down was fine, a little hectic, but that’s to be expected when you’re driving past 300 miles of other people’s beaches to get to yours. All things considered, it was nothing.

When we arrived there were some bumps and bruises. We’ve booked a room with a jacuzzi, but somehow our hotel of choice overbooked (or rather, someone neglected to check out) and we were bumped to a larger room, but with two double beds. That didn’t work for us (plus the shower curtain rail was busted off) and we made our disappointment well known. Fortunately, someone who was in a jacuzzi room checked out about two hours after we got here, and we’re finally settled in our room.

The weather is beautiful and there are people out in the ocean right now below us, but before we can hit the water we’ve got to do things like eat dinner. Right now we’re getting unpacked and organized and we’re listening to the Phillies game online via the high-speed connection. They’re up 8-0 in the 1st 2nd inning. Can’t complain about that. :)
