Because we’re always what our situations hand us…

My sister had a concert that went rough tonight, strings sliding out of tune, missing orchestra members, just not a good time.

A man I knew in passing who couldn’t afford a lung transplant because his insurance wouldn’t cover it died this morning. And, y’know, even though I try not to get attached to every single person I meet on the lists, it bothers me.

A man whose writings I respect is feeling (rightfully so) attacked for writing what he feels like writing about on his own blog – which in this case, is his comic. So he’s stopped writing about his comic on his blog because he doesn’t feel comfortable doing it. If I did that, there’d be almost nothing on here. But I’ve pulled posts of this site myself, so I feel his pain.

I spent the entire day running around like a nut trying to do what was right, and I think I pissed some people off for doing so. I’m beyond caring at this point. Let them think of me what they want; I don’t have any regrets.

My husband’s asleep, my dog is snoring, and I’m waffling between the desire to work out and the desire to kill someone.
(In the novel. Calm down. Sheesh.)

…it’s either sadness or euphoria.

Ka-runch

This happened to us this week.

Wednesday, I flipped my old phone open, and, well, it kept going. Hinge just shattered. So Wednesday night we ended up shopping for new phones (since we were both outside of contract anyway). My number (for those of you who have it) hasn’t changed, but now my phone plays music too.

And when I added Xingtone to my computer, well, let’s just say I have some very interesting ring tones now :)

And while we’re on the subject….

I thougth the Subservient Chicken website was creepy enough to suit anyone. Granted Coqroq, singing for the chicken fries is only freaky because chicken fries are freaky (and not very good, though somewhat effective as a laxative).

But that freaky King thing is just wrong – and I’m not the only one who thinks so.

I have to wonder exactly what Burger King’s trying to say.

  • Eat at Burger King, ’cause we’re f’in creepy.
  • Eat at Burger King or we’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse
  • Eat at Burger King – if you think our ad campaigns are scary, wait ’till you taste the food!

Poetry and life and stuff

My favorite poem of the day is An Attempt at Unrhymed Verse, by Wendy Cope.

The line about the gherkin is quite nice.

I’ve been training at work, and my throat is very sore from talking so much. One more day of training to go, but not until Friday.

I’m way behind in about six things, but I’m actually ahead on the comic buffer — Saturday and Tuesday are uploaded (GOMH and IOI respectively) and I’m working on the following Saturday (more IOI, but it’s a god one, and it’ll give me time to plan GOMH) so that should be stable at least for the next week. Wow. Stable. That’s kind of nice.

All above links are from Register One, a cool comic that updates sporadically.

Not much going on here this weekend. Might finally get out to see Star Wars III. Otherwise, a quiet one I think. Lots to do – homework, bills, website and comic stuff… Altogether it should be a pretty good weekend though.
