State of the Site Report

So here we are.

I’ve got all but 20 of the comics moved over into the new system, and I’m not going to move the blog posts from the last year over at all. (Well, except the ones I already moved.)

Navigation’s fairly straightforward – use the categories to the left to narrow down your viewing pleasure. (Want to see just the comics? Click “comics”. Just GOMH? Click “get outta my head”. Just the blog posts? click “ideas”. You get it.)

There’s a help link in the “pages” area that I’ll be glad to fill out as time goes on.

Archives read newest to oldest, just like the old one, which might take a little getting used to for the comics, but I’m sure it’ll work out.

If you prefer an RSS feed, make sure to check it out – it’s in that left nav thing. And one of my projects is to transcribe all the comics somehow so that the “search” will bring up searches against them as well.

Comments? Well, comments are my last big project to overtake – somehow this winter I hope to wire something into WordPress that will automatically create a forum thread when I post a new post, but that’s nowhere near even the beginning of development, forget the end.

My “to do” list:

  • Move the FAQ and Cast Pages over to the new design
  • Move any other straggling pages over to the new design
  • Clean up any straggling design issues.
  • Anything else I think of.

Dress Accomplished.

I had a wonderful time dress shopping – it always works better if you take a good friend who has a great sense of humor, and my friend Steen has all of the above. Without her, the insanity of womens’ clothing sizes in the United States would’ve had me in tears after the first hour. With her, we slogged through probably 100 dresses in at least 5 stores, and I came out victorious. Why all the fuss, you ask? This weekend is a friend’s wedding, and it’s an evening wedding, which means formal, and it’ll be the first time I’ve had the opportunity to really dress up in years, and I want to look nice for a change.

Of course, having only slept from 5 to 10:30 and even then not well, plus the hours of coding this morning and the hours of romping the mall this afternoon have left me totally drained. If I make it through the week, it’ll be interesting, to say the least.

Urrgh.

It’s 4:50 am and I’ve been coding for class straight through since about 11:00 last night. I got everything I wanted to get working finished, but I still have a ton of work to do, and I have to go dress shopping in about 7 hours. Whee.

On the plus side, I learned a ton of Javascript, mySQL and PHP tonight. And if I didn’t feel like I’d been hit by a truck, I’d probably even feel *good* about that.

Yeah…. um….

I’m having one of those "can’t remember what I was going to post about" moments. It was probably going to be about how freakin’ tired I am. We have five weeks of class left and I have a thousand things to do and no time to do them. Every time something gets added to my list of things to do I can see another day of my vacation in July just evaporating.

I haven’t even looked at the buffer for the comic in a week and a half. Guess I’d better check that.

I’d like to go upstairs and go to sleep, but I have so much to do. Enough that I have to stop sitting here wondering what I was going to post about. Night.
