Falling into place

So I finally threw out the script that wasn’t working for me in the strip that was supposed to be Tuesday’s, and wrote a new script and started over. I’m currently making good progress on that one, but I’ve also got to put together my comics for the hobby expo on Thursday for work. Anyway, there’s already a slightly-off-topic comic in the queue for Saturday if I don’t get this other one done, and if I do, well, Saturday’s current comic will become a Friday bonus comic and today’s will become Saturday’s and I’ll start panicking for Tuesday all over again. Ah, to rebuild the buffer.

At least I’m getting ideas again.

Tonight, I worked on the comic while listening to the Blank Label Comic Podcast which you’ve probably heard of if you’re a webcomic geek like I am, but for the rest of you, it’s a podcast hosted by two members of Blank Label Comics and features interviews with other webcomic authors and artists once a week. I’m currently way behind – just finished Podcast #8 from October (now I get what all the freakin’ drama was about) but drama flare-ups or no, I think it’s really valuable to get an insight into comic creators and their similarities and differences. So if you too are a webcomic geek you might like it.

Meanwhile, I was in Photoshop training for the past two days and have picked up many a tip plus a big nifty book. I promised myself I’d go to bed by 12:30 this morning because I’m giving blood at work today and I think it’s important not to go to work exhausted when you know you’re going to be literally drained by the end of the day but if I get a second I’ll upload one of the really nifty things I did.

Otherwise, all else is good. Hope you’re the same.

Arrgh.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning. Worked out, walked the dog, got ready for work, stopped for gas, and was at work by 7:30.
I worked from 7:30am to 7:45pm with a short lunch break.
I came home, and have been writing training documentation since.
And now it’s midnight, and in five and a half hours I get to do it all again.

Whee.

If the comic Saturday is late, don’t be shocked, ‘kay?

Keeping you busy between comics

So Nighthawk asked me to point out a new game on Shockwave called Arcadia [link went down] that he’s been playing, which allows you to play four mini-games at one time. It’s apparently a good amount of fun and can result in much pointage.

How much pointage?

lots of points!

That’s right, twenty one quadrillion points. That’s much pointage.

So while I finish this scarf and slack off on the buffer-building, you can keep busy.

Schedule and update

Tomorrow evening, I pick my cousin up from the airport here in Philly. We’re going to eat with my folks, good hoagies and steak sandwiches she can’t get in Colorado.

Friday morning, she and I are driving the six hours down to Virginia Beach to go whale watching and visit relatives who live nearby.

We’re hanging down there until Monday morning, and my cousin flies back out to Colorado on Tuesday.

I’ve got a comic queued up for Saturday, but Tuesday’s is still only 1/4 complete (sitting in my Dock even as we speak) and I’m not sure I’ll have time to work on it this weekend. I imagine there will be some downtime, but I’m not sure when. (I’m “spoiled” by the guaranteed two hours of downtime that occur when I vacation with my husband – while he does therapy, I goof off with the computer.)

If nothing else, I’ll post a pic or something. I still owe you some comic cheesecake from this summer.

So much to say, so little energy

I was going to post a lot more tonight – on comics, on life, on how I’m continually baffled by the power of music – but I took two Tylenol Sinus Nighttime about an hour ago and not only can I now breathe, but I can barely hold my head up. Ah, sweet sleep! I long for your embrace!

So you lot are getting the short-short version.

First: I’ve updated the Daily Comic List to include some new comics, including the incredible Anywhere But Here. I also threw in some new blogs I’m reading, and threw a bunch of old favorites down into the “sporadically updating” category because they all *said* they’d be back after the holidays, but they’re not yet….

Second: I found the song “Storybook Love” from Princess Bride on iTunes over the weekend. It’s not the version from the soundtrack, but it’s the same artist.

And let me just say for the record that yes, the lyrics for the song are stupid as shit, and yet, I’m left in a puddle of romantic ooze every time I hear them.

Third: Forum. Updated code. Running better. Feel free to check it out.

Forth: I’m going to Virginia Beach over Martin Luther King Day. I’ve got one of the two comics staged, other will go up this weekend. Lots of plans for the comic, including a new character (NOT a freaking dragon) who needs to have the most vanilla boring name I can come up with. Feel free to post suggestions on the forum… somewhere… to tired to go make a thread right now.

‘K, that’s it, go to bed. thanks!

Comic Plans

Just a heads-up. I’m still getting back into the swing of things comic-wise, and the holidays snuck up on me. As a result, one shouldn’t expect a holiday-based storyline to magically appear. For one thing, with my update schedule Christmas would end sometime around Valentine’s Day.

Instead, we’ll waffle between some Idiocy and some GOMH one-offs for a while. (If you like GOMH, start praying that I stop seeing such stupid headlines for a few days. IOI strips are just too easy to make.)
