Spent the weekend programming, drawing comics, and taking apart a laptop to see if it could be repaired. Tuesday’s comic is between 1/3 and 1/2 complete, with all the requisite bits accounted for, just not assembled. I got five hours of sleep last night. I have to work tomorrow. The dog’s sleeping with her head stuffed under the blankets and the rest of her out. We’re supposed to get more thunderstorms. I think we’re out of soap. This is getting a bit too random, even for me – going to bed now.

a poem
subpar, but i’m out of practice.
fun house
I’m an engineer now-
capable of conversing extemporaneous
on the relative merits of
agile development, refactoring,
and whether we really should
clean up the bad smells in that code.
I, who embraced an unholy fear of offending,
convince total strangers that they made mistakes
and get paid to do so.
I spend my free time programming,
or watching science-geek shows on cable
with my husband and my dog and my computer.
I eat too much for my already round frame, and
I work out.
I, who cannot draw, publish online comics.
I, who fear the world, publish my journal.
I haven’t read a book since December,
I haven’t written a poem since 2003.
sometimes, even I don’t recognize myself.

Home stinky home
There’s something about arriving safely in your own front yard — something about the smell of home compared to everywhere else — that just puts a person at ease.
And there’s something about opening the door to a house that’s been sealed for 5 solid days while it baked in the summer sun that makes you happy to sit in the yard and relax.
Whew! I’m glad that we took the trash out before we left, that’s for sure.
Home again, home again, jiggidy jog
I have to say goodbye to the ocean today. We’re going home in just an hour or so — right after we eat breakfast. I’m tan and burnt and still occasionally coughing. I’ve had such a fill of seafood that I can’t stand the thought of it. (The only night we didn’t partake was the night we had pizza and Hershey’s ice cream. No, I didn’t know Hershey made ice cream either.)
Unless dire catastrophe, the next post will be from Pennsylvania.
Oh, and, comic later today, maybe.
More beach for you!
It was sunny today and we spent hours on the beach. Here are some pics for you.

Some girls in the chunk of beach next to ours were throwing cheese puffs to the seagulls, so the gulls were hanging around being goofy quite a bit. And in the second pic, you can see a really big ship, probably a aircraft carrier.
We Have Arrived.
Whoo!! I have beach!!

Yeah, it’d be a panorama if I wasn’t too busy partying to knit it together. Laters!
Off to the beach!
Will write more tonight probably – now it’s off to the beach!
